Treasurer- Mohammed Rahman

In the recent past I have served many different leadership roles for the Thunderducks Toastmasters including Treasurer position. I have worked closely with the club president to ensure all funds were maintained properly and records were kept in order. In the distance past I served as a Treasurer for my Cricket Club back in Bangladesh. I hope I can provide the leadership qualities necessary for the organization DFW Bi Net.

Sincerely,

Mohammed

Secretary- Jay Eilers

Thanks to Morgan for nominating me.

I have experience as a non profit board secretary for Earth Rhythms in 2007 and presently for Sacred Journey Fellowship since June 2010. I have a passion for outreach and education to our diverse queer community and our allies. I am a gender queer activist, and my activism includes being a bi/pansexual ally. I enjoyed being a panelist in the Crosspoints 2010 series.

Vice President- Jinai Gordon

My name is Jinai Gordon and I am running for the Vice President position of DFWBiNet. Ever since I attended my first DFWBiNet meeting, I have been actively helping the organization to shift to being more structured and organized. I recreated the brochure, developed a calendar, created the flyer for Celebrate BiSexuality Day, updated Facebook and Twitter accounts for various events & programs, and created the first draft of the bylaws. I am currently looking for ways for us to get grants to helps us develop into the organization that we all want it to be.

At my graduate & undergraduate institutions, University of Central Arkansas & Loyola University Chicago, I held several executive board positions for various organizations. I know I am a strong leader as well as a strong follower. I have experience with recruiting people for organizations, and have helped grown the organizations. For example at the Loyola University Chicago, I helped the Residence Hall Association general member participation grow from 8 people to over 90 consistent attendees. At the University of Central Arkansas, I single handedly grew the number of students running for executive board positions from 3 people in 2009 to 7 people in 2010. The reason I have been successful with growing these organizations is because of outlining goals for the organization, that everyone shares and actually implementing them during the year.

A goal I have for this position is creating a new historical document to show where the group has come from and where it is going.  If elected, I will use my role as historian to put together a DFWBiNet History book, so people will have an understanding of the history and importance of the organization.  Also, I would like to use the brochure I recreated, to  help recruit people into the organization.

President- Morgan O'Donnell

Who I Am
Like most people, I have many facets. I am a poet, cat-person, wife, former soldier, mother, mountain girl, Dune fan, bisexual woman, and a chocolate lover to name a few.

What Experience Do I Have?
I have served as served as a director on the board of a small grant-funded community organization; a committee member on an academic program steering committee; have served and currently serve as an advisor for a student BLGT group, founded a student BLGT group, am a member of an employee BLGT group, and was a non-commissioned officer in the military.

I have been involved with Toastmasters International (a volunteer organization focusing on public speaking and leadership skills) since 2002 in a variety of roles from being a charter member of one club, founding another club, and serving in several officer positions, including president where I helped lead the club to the highest status a club can achieve.

As for paid positions, I have worked several years in the public relations/communications field. I also have experience in outreach, event coordination, and teaching.

This is a small snapshot of the skills and experience I would bring to the position of president, if  elected.

Why Do I Want to Hold Office?
Because I want to help grow DFW Bi Net.  Because I want to give back to the organization that has given me a home, friends, and support. Because I want to provide the opportunity for other bisexual people to feel accepted for who they are as I have been accepted by the members of DFW Bi Net. Some of the possibilities I see for DFW Bi Net in the future include growing the support groups, to provide training for the moderators, to provide a counselor for the support groups, starting a newsletter, increasing social activities, and getting the word out to North Texas bi-community that we are here for them. Of course, these activities would require money so fundraising would also be something I would want to work on.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Morgan
