Vice President- Jinai Gordon

My name is Jinai Gordon and I am running for the Vice President position of DFWBiNet. Ever since I attended my first DFWBiNet meeting, I have been actively helping the organization to shift to being more structured and organized. I recreated the brochure, developed a calendar, created the flyer for Celebrate BiSexuality Day, updated Facebook and Twitter accounts for various events & programs, and created the first draft of the bylaws. I am currently looking for ways for us to get grants to helps us develop into the organization that we all want it to be.

At my graduate & undergraduate institutions, University of Central Arkansas & Loyola University Chicago, I held several executive board positions for various organizations. I know I am a strong leader as well as a strong follower. I have experience with recruiting people for organizations, and have helped grown the organizations. For example at the Loyola University Chicago, I helped the Residence Hall Association general member participation grow from 8 people to over 90 consistent attendees. At the University of Central Arkansas, I single handedly grew the number of students running for executive board positions from 3 people in 2009 to 7 people in 2010. The reason I have been successful with growing these organizations is because of outlining goals for the organization, that everyone shares and actually implementing them during the year.

A goal I have for this position is creating a new historical document to show where the group has come from and where it is going.  If elected, I will use my role as historian to put together a DFWBiNet History book, so people will have an understanding of the history and importance of the organization.  Also, I would like to use the brochure I recreated, to  help recruit people into the organization.
